Electric Resistance Welded (ERW) pipe is formed by cold-rolling steel strip into a cylindrical shape and fusing the longitudinal seam using high-frequency electric resistance welding, without added filler metal. The process delivers tight dimensional tolerances, a smooth uniform wall and strong weld integrity for small-to-medium diameter pipe, making ERW pipe well suited to oil and gas gathering lines, water supply, structural tubing and fabrication applications. Square and rectangular hollow sections are also produced from the same coil stock.
